Tapachula, on Mexico’s southern border, is the first stop for thousands of migrants entering the country. Many arrive exhausted from long and dangerous journeys, carrying stories of trauma, uncertainty, and loss. They face overwhelming challenges: securing legal status, finding food and shelter, caring for children, and navigating a new culture and language. Beyond these urgent needs lies the deeper reality of sin—brokenness, despair, and separation from God that no government paper or humanitarian aid can fully heal. HBMI responds by planting a church rooted in Christ and establishing a Welcome Center that meets both spiritual and practical needs.
HBMI is laying the groundwork for a holistic ministry in Tapachula, where more than 40,000 Haitians have sought asylum in recent years. The work focuses on two pillars: a Haitian Baptist church to offer spiritual care, discipleship, and community, and a Welcome Center that serves as a hub for relief, integration, and hope.
FHBCCT is being planted to gather migrants in worship, build them up in faith, and equip leaders for long-term ministry.
We launch services in Haitian Creole, French, and Spanish to embrace the full diversity of the community.
We create Bible study circles and fellowship groups where believers can grow in faith, pray together, and support one another.
We train and mentor Haitian believers to serve as pastors, deacons, and ministry leaders.
We organize programs for kids and young people, discipling the next generation and strengthening families.
We develop strategies to share Christ with Haitians and extend the gospel to their Mexican neighbors.
THCC is envisioned as a hub of care, dignity, and discipleship, linking practical assistance with spiritual formation.
We secure a 5–6,000 sq. ft. space to serve as a hub for services, outreach, and gathering.
We provide food, clothing, and hygiene supplies to those who lack the basics of daily life.
We partner with translators and volunteer lawyers to help families with documentation and asylum processes.
We offer Spanish classes and literacy training to help Haitians adapt and integrate more effectively.
We provide temporary housing for families in crisis, offering stability in moments of great need.
We extend emotional, spiritual, and pastoral support for those dealing with trauma and hardship.
We connect every service back to the church, ensuring discipleship and community remain at the heart of our ministry.
