The Haitian Baptist Missions Initiative (HBMI) is led by the Florida Haitian Baptist Fellowship, in coordination with the Florida Baptist Convention and the National Haitian Fellowship. It was established in response to the growing presence of Haitian communities worldwide and the spiritual and social challenges they face as minorities in their host countries. Its purpose is to faithfully proclaim the gospel, plant and strengthen churches, and serve Haitian communities so that through their lives Christ may be known and glorified among the nations.
The mission of HBMI is to mobilize, support, and equip Haitian Baptists worldwide to live out their faith, disciple others, and advance the Great Commission through evangelism, church planting, and compassionate service within their host nations and beyond.
Our starting point: reliance on God.
We commit to relying on God’s guidance and power through prayer, recognizing that lasting fruit comes from His Spirit and not our strength.
Out of prayer flows proclamation and examples.
We commit to proclaiming Christ clearly and consistently, living lives that reflect the gospel in both word and deed.
Witness is reinforced by tangible acts of love.
We commit to serving with humility and integrity, addressing both spiritual and social needs with the love of Christ.
Service must respect and adapt to context.
We commit to respecting and understanding the cultural contexts of Haitian communities and their host nations, serving in ways that build trust and unity.
The long-term goal: healthy churches and empowered leaders.
We commit to building lasting impact by empowering local leaders, fostering self-sufficient churches, and avoiding dependency.
One family in Christ across nations.
We aspire to see Haitian Baptists overcoming barriers of geography and culture, standing together as one body of faith, encouraging one another, and modeling Christian unity across generations and borders.
Believers rooted in Scripture and formed by Christ.
We aspire to see Haitian believers strengthened in their walk with Christ, firmly grounded in God’s Word, and living in ways that reflect His character — showing love, humility, and respect for their families, churches, and wider communities.
Sharing the gospel with conviction and love.
We aspire to see Haitian Christians faithfully proclaiming the gospel in word and deed, discipling others with courage and integrity, and bearing testimony to Christ in their host nations and beyond, even in challenging circumstances.
Blessing host societies through gospel-driven service.
We aspire to see Haitian communities serving their host nations with compassion and integrity, contributing to the good of society with a spirit of gratitude to God — so that their presence becomes a testimony of Christ’s love and grace.
